The University of Barcelona and the USSAP lead a pioneering project to prescribe the sea as therapy
Health professionals and researchers from the UB and the USSAP will evaluate the physical and psychological impact of blue health on 1,800 people in an unprecedented cross-border project.
SEAHEALS: structuring European research on the effects of the marine environment on mental and physical health
The SEAHEALS project is now entering an operational phase, marked by the structuring of field actions and the progressive deployment of cross-border research. Jointly supported by the University of Barcelona, USSAP and the SOM MAR association, this project is part of the European POCTEFA 2021-2027 program, which finances 65% of the initiative (Ref. POCTEFA SEAHEALS EFA186/06).
SeaHeals: USSAP at the heart of an innovative European project on blue health
USSAP is engaging in a new dynamic of health research and innovation by integrating the SeaHeals project, led by the University of Barcelona (UB) under the direction of Professors David GALLARDO-PUJOL and Jordi RENOM-PINSACH, in conjunction with territorial partners. This cross-border project, soon to be deployed on the coast from Narbonne to Barcelona, aims to scientifically demonstrate the beneficial effects of the marine environment on health.
The UB promotes new projects that enhance cooperation and sustainability in the Pyrenean territory
Geothermal energy in rural mountain areas, the fight against leishmaniasis, the evolution of permafrost in the Pyrenees and the impact of the sea on health and well-being are the themes of the four projects linked to the University of Barcelona that have been co-financed at 65% by the European Union in the second call for the Interreg VI-A Spain-France-Andorra program (POCTEFA 2021-2027). In this edition, a total of 68 new cross-border cooperation projects between France, Spain and Andorra have been approved that will promote innovation, sustainability and social cohesion for a more balanced, green and inclusive future on both sides of the Pyrenees.
